Sorcery and Astrology

by Jannie

It boggles the mind that people so readily buys into fantastical (unrealistic) theories!

But, when it comes to Truth, the eyeballs roll and great worldly wisdom utters in scepticism, “ughh… I dont’t know…”! As if they then [can] assess the Gospel of Jesus Christ!  How on this earth, can a body millions of light-years away (distance, not time![1]) influence your personality traits forming in your mother’s womb if the whole earth or even a speck of dust on this planet is absolutely unaffected by those planets and suns!  Perhaps these suckers for “mystical powers” that denies a loving and perfect Creator-Provider-Sustainer-Father should read Scriptures like Rom 1:18-24; 3:3-4; 1 Cor 1:18-25; 3:18-23; and so on.

The Bible is clear that we should not have anything to do with anything in the occult.

Note 2 at Mt. 2:1: There is no mention in scripture that these wise men were either three in number or that they were kings. The Greek word used here is “magos” and comes from the Babylonian language, and originally referred to astrologers or interpreters of dreams. It was later a name applied to the Persian priests. It is unusual that they would have interpreted the appearance of this star, no matter how unique it was, as signalling the birth of the Jewish king. This suggests that there was an understanding of Jewish prophecy among them which no doubt came from Daniel’s influence (Dan 1:20-21; 2:47-48; 4:8-9). It was the fact that Daniel was promoted to be master over all the magicians (Dan 4:9) and his revelation of the time Christ would be born (Dan 9:25) that served as the wise men’s inspiration. The star served only as a sign, not an influence. The Lord has used, and will use, signs in the heavens (Acts 2:19-20) to declare his glory (Ps 19:1-3), but the stars do not dictate, nor can they predict, events on the earth. Astrology is forbidden in scripture (Lev 19:26; Dt 18:10; 2 Kings 21:6; Is 47:12-13; Jer 10:2).  Pay homage to the Creator of the stars, not to the created stars!

First, Truth has to exist, then it can be twisted [make wicked].  So God (Jn 1:1-4; 8:32,36; 14:6) as the Creator (Gen 1:1; Col 1:15-17), created also the stars.  But these heavenly bodies don’t have any influence [control, effect] over our livers at all.  They are too far apart to even have any effect on other heavenly bodies that are extremely vast distances away.  The lies that some wicked people advocate are to manipulate and control gullible babes in the spirit, and place them in bondage and bring these “astrologers” lots of money and undeserved esteem.

Make a study of the camp the Israelites had to set up, as God gave to Moses then [for their purpose to reveal their self-righteousness, Gal 3:19; Rom 9:4] with the names of the leaders of each of their clan [and note their personality traits], and you will notice how the world copy-cat the prophecies God gave a people of Jesus Christ and turned it into “astrology”.

God is also not silent on witchcraft – in any form.  In the short meditation called “Pornography, witchcraft”, this author makes the following observation: Gen 41(:8); Ex 7.  God demonstrated His ultimate sovereignty over all and that witchcraft cannot effect Him.  However, His followers should realize that the rebellion against God [lack of trust in God’s power, guidance and provision] is a complete abomination to God (Dt 18:12)!  If you claim to be a Christian, you follow Him as your Guide, Teacher, and Counsellor… (Jn 14:26).

Also look at the following:

Dt 4:19; 17:3; 18:9-14;  Jer 27:8-18;  Dan 2(:27,28); Gal 5:19-21 (…will not inherit the Kingdom of God…); Eph 2:1-3-22; 4:21-24, 27, 29-32; Col 3:2, 3, 17; Mal 3:5; Acts 13:8-12; Ez 13:22,23;  1 Cor 10:20, 21;  Rev 9:21; 18:23, 24; 22:13-15[2];   2 Ki 21:6, 10-15; 17:17-19; 23:24,25; 2 Chron 33:6; Lev 19:31; 20:6, 27; 1 Sam 15:23 with Rev 5:4-5; 21:6-8.

In, for example, Mt 5:28; 7:15; 12:33-37 Jesus Christ teaches us that we should be very cautious with our thought-life.  This is where our approval for our actions originates for us.  Remember that we only have a choice between Light and darkness (Mt 7:16-19, 21; Js 3 – especially vv. 10-12; and so on).  We should heed Is 60:14; Mt 5:14…

Col 1:13-20 should be self-evident – and certainly1 Cor 4:20 and 2 Tim 3:5 (1 Jn 4:4).  Selah?  Amen?

Neither could we be cowards (2 Tim 1:7; Jn 4:24) or Spiritually uninformed (Jn 14:23-27; 1 Jn 2:4).  Come on, church of Jesus Christ – let us be a true Christian!

Neither a slave nor someone ignoring Rom 12:9.

Go in peace (Col 3:15-17).

[1] Sounds like a contradiction with our formulae, but just maybe God created outside our modern frame of reference.  See also “ABC Myths, legends, lies” p. 5 by the author.  The timeless Bible language uses interesting words like “beast”, “inner man” and “heavens” that we today in puffed-up ignorance with a lost knowledge can easily scuff at; while it could describe things such as someone without God-consciousness (Gal 5:5, see “sign of a beast” as lust + greed in meditation “Rapture raptured”, p. 7); our DNA; and a realm that most people are totally oblivious about!  When God says that He “stretched” the heavens (Job 9:8; Is 40:22; 42:5; 44:24; 45:12; 51:13; Jer 10:12; 51:15; Zech 12:1), it very much sounds like a distorted scale where our understanding of relationships between distance and time might just falter to explain [calculate] how God [the Source of Intellect and Creativity!] created this universe ex nihilo.  If it happened in a moment, the left and right side of our E=MC2 could mean that an unimaginable amount of energy required to create a vast universe could be such that one moment (second) could bring about vast distances, therefore today measuring distance and not the time it would take for light to get to certain points – today – over those distances!

[2] Num 24:17 with Dan 9:24-27 and Rev 22:13-19 (note v. 16).  Get it?  This is why sorcerers paid homage to Jesus in Jerusalem, David was appointed over them.  It is about kings in a Kingdom-plan.  (See the meditation by the author entitled “A Short Christmas and Easter Message”).  Even Num 24:4-5 was possibly referring also to the “attractiveness” of the lay-out of the camp… in the form of a cross!
